After hearing about Disney gutting their 2D theatrical animation department, I think I've finally realised something. 2D isn't dying everywhere it's only dying in the North America's Theatrical movies. 2D is pretty much everywhere else in the world. Japan is still putting out several 2D TV shows and theatrical films, 2D is still big in TV animation (Even more bigger than CGI, since 2D is easier to achieve on a TV budget), and it's huge on the internet, serval shorts while made in adobe flash still use the frame by frame techniques of classic 2D animation. And it is possible for independent studios to make 2D animated films, recently the web series Dick Figures started a Kickstarter and managed to get enough money to produce a movie based on the series, in fact I think they're getting close to finishing it now. So in conclusion 2D is only dying when it comes to theatrical animation in North America, it's alive and well everywhere else and if we want to bring it back to North Amercian theatrical animation, we need to do it ourselves. Maybe if the animators on the internet worked hard on bringing back 2D the major studios will take notice and bring it back themselves, only time will tell. Well that's all I have to say for now.

Stay Toony my friends.

I love a good 3D film, but 2D is worthy of keeping around, as none of this would have existed without it. Plus, it holds as a good medium for every other sort of art form there is out there, some that just can't properly fit in 3D. Ex: Jimmy Neutron characters looked AMAZING in 2D, while Fairly Odd Parents looked FREAKING SCARY in 3D (seriously, those mouths should be arrested for being way too close to their ears and threatening to tear apart their heads in half)!
